Dinner parties

Sunday afternoon

As I am making a Sunday roast for the first time in a while, I had to smile.

I always wondered why my mother had 13 dinner sets - 19 of everything!

It was easy to remember my parents friends. The married ones and the young widow.

Today, setting the table is more than just the memory. The number of people are a lot less, but the value still the same :-)

The adversity of diversity

Adversity : A difficult or unpleasant situation (misfortune, trouble, difficulty, hardship, distress, disaster, heartbreak, misadventure etc.) Diversity : A range of different things (variety, miscellany, assortment, mixture, mix, range, medley,etc.) There was a time not so long ago when diversity was "the in thing". We travelled, met people, experienced new places, shared ideas, encouraged people to better situations, find solutions to their challenges etc. What the hell happened? Why is it that when I look at the news, newspaper, speak to people at social gatherings to find  time and time again that I get hit by the wall : diversity is all of a sudden the new adversity! The best way I could express myself was simple: I travel often. A great number of times I am able to learn the  basics of the language of the country I travel to. I mean basic.
